What we help with

Care for children and young people

Our psychiatrists assess and treat children and adolescents from the age of 6 who are experiencing emotional, behavioural or developmental challenges. We provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning tailored to each child’s developmental stage.

Care is provided by AHPRA-registered psychiatrists working within their individual scope of practice.

ADHD assessment for children

  • Detailed psychiatric assessment
  • Developmental history review
  • Parent and school input, where appropriate
  • Diagnostic clarification
  • Medication management when clinically indicated
  • Shared care with GPs

Our goal is to give families clear answers and practical next steps.

How telehealth care works

  • Developmentally informed assessment
  • Family-inclusive treatment planning
  • Structured risk and safety assessment
  • Medication review, if needed
  • Clear communication with referrers
  • A pathway to more intensive care, including Avive programs, if clinically needed

Who can refer?

  • General practitioners
  • Paediatricians
  • Other specialists
  • Allied health professionals (through a GP referral)

Our intake team guides families through the process.

How appointments work

A structured, staged assessment

The structure may vary with your child’s age and needs.

1

Initial appointment, usually with parents only

  • A detailed developmental and mental health history
  • Discussion with parents or carers
  • Review of symptoms, functioning and current supports
  • Assessment questionnaires to complete before the second appointment, if needed
  • A request for a physical health check, if needed

2

Second appointment, with your child and parents

  • Time with your child, alone or with a parent
  • Review of the questionnaires
  • Discussion of the findings with you and your child
  • A plan created together with your family
  • A detailed report sent to your GP

3

Follow-up appointments

  • Clarifying the diagnosis, if needed
  • Reviewing symptoms and progress
  • Refining the treatment plan
  • Guidance and information for your family
  • Where medication is prescribed: how well it works, side effects, dose and safety
