How it works

A simple, step-by-step process

1

Contact us

Fill out the form below and we’ll send your intake forms. No referral yet? That’s okay: you’ll need to see your GP for one before your appointment.

2

Book your appointment

Once we have your referral and completed intake forms, we’ll match you with the psychiatrist best suited to your needs, and you book a telehealth appointment at a time that suits you.

3

Begin your treatment

At your appointment time, join using the secure telehealth link. Your psychiatrist begins working with you on a personalised treatment plan.

Get started

Start your ADHD assessment

Whether you’re a patient, family member or health professional, complete the form to begin.

A valid referral from your GP is needed before your appointment. Contact us if you need help getting one.

Why we ask for documents first

We ask you to complete intake forms, questionnaires and other documents before your first appointment. Your psychiatrist can then review your history and symptoms beforehand, which helps avoid delays and, where appropriate, lets treatment planning start straight after your first appointment.

Adult ADHD assessment

Two appointments for a thorough assessment

Your psychiatrist completes the assessment over two appointments before recommending treatment.

Initial assessment

A comprehensive psychiatric assessment: your symptoms, medical history, mental health history and any supporting information you’ve provided.

Before this appointment:

  • Complete our online intake form.
  • Send your referral, if you haven’t already.
  • Provide any relevant supporting documents, if you have them.

Second ADHD assessment

If your psychiatrist decides further ADHD assessment is appropriate, you’ll be invited to book a 30-minute ADHD assessment review.

Before this appointment:

  • Complete ADHD self-assessment questionnaires.
  • Ask someone who knows you well, such as a parent, partner or close friend, to complete an observer questionnaire.
  • Get an ECG if medication may be appropriate. An ECG is preferred before your appointment, but an outstanding one won’t delay your booking.

During this appointment, your psychiatrist reviews the questionnaires and information, confirms or rules out an ADHD diagnosis, and talks with you about treatment, including whether medication suits you.

After your assessment

Ongoing review appointments

Review appointments are tailored to your clinical needs. Not sure which to book? Our team can help.

Standard review (20 minutes)

  • Repeat prescriptions
  • Medication dose adjustments
  • Stable medication reviews
  • A single clinical concern
  • Simple documents, such as travel letters

Extended review (30 minutes)

  • Second ADHD assessment appointments
  • Several clinical concerns
  • Significant medication changes
  • Complex clinical reviews
  • School, university, workplace or insurance documents

Once your medication is stable, your psychiatrist can transfer your care to a GP who has agreed to act as an authorised prescriber and can provide ongoing scripts. It typically takes 4 to 5 appointments (including the initial appointment) over 1 to 2 years to reach medication stability.

Queensland shared care ADHD assessments (MBS Item 291)

Queensland patients may be eligible for an MBS Item 291 ADHD assessment under our shared care pathway. Your psychiatrist completes the assessment, and ongoing prescribing and medication management continue with your GP once clinically appropriate.

Patients referred under Item 291 still complete ADHD questionnaires before their initial appointment, in line with Medicare requirements. Shared care depends on your GP’s willingness to take part and on state prescribing requirements.
