Payment

A credit card is needed to secure your booking.

  • A 25% booking fee is charged when your appointment is confirmed.
  • The full fee is charged to the card on file 7 working days before your appointment.
  • If your card is declined and you don’t arrange payment by the due date, your appointment is cancelled and your deposit forfeited.

Cancellation policy

  • Cancellations less than 7 working days before your appointment incur a $200 cancellation fee if the booking can’t be filled.
  • Cancellations between 6 and 2 working days before your appointment are charged 50% of the booking fee.
  • Cancellations less than 2 working days before your appointment, and missed appointments, are charged the full fee.

This policy also applies to 291 and rural DVA appointments; cancellation fees are charged to the card on file. Cancellation fees aren’t eligible for Medicare rebates.

Bulk-billed 291 assessments

We offer bulk-billed MBS Item 291 psychiatric assessments for eligible patients living in Modified Monash Model (MM) 2–7 locations. This includes:

  • general psychiatry assessments for eligible MM2–MM7 patients
  • ADHD assessments for eligible Queensland patients under our shared care model, where clinically appropriate
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) card holders living in MM2–MM7 locations

To check your location, enter your address in the Health Workforce Locator and look at the 2019 result for the Modified Monash Model.

To be eligible, you must:

  • live in an MM2–MM7 location
  • meet Medicare eligibility requirements, including not having had an MBS Item 291 service in the previous 12 months (365 days)
  • have a valid referral from your GP or referring practitioner

Please note: if you move and are no longer eligible, standard fees may apply. A follow-up Item 293 consultation needs a new referral from your GP. A credit card is still needed to secure your appointment, and is only charged a fee if you cancel outside our cancellation policy or miss the appointment.

Medicare

Medicare rebates

Eligibility

To claim a Medicare rebate, you need a current referral: GP referrals must be dated within 12 months of your appointment, and specialist referrals within 3 months. You must be in Australia at the time of your appointment.

If you’ve seen a psychiatrist in the last 12 months, please check with Medicare which rebates are available to you. We can’t obtain new referrals for you or backdate rebates.

Rebate processing

We process your Medicare rebate the working day after your appointment. Medicare takes up to 72 hours and pays the rebate into your nominated bank account. If it doesn’t arrive, please contact Medicare to check your eligibility and account details.

Rebates can’t be claimed for cancelled bookings.

Medicare Safety Net (2026)

Once you reach the annual threshold, Medicare may pay 80% of your out-of-pocket costs for eligible out-of-hospital services (up to benefit caps), on top of your usual rebate.

  • Individuals and families: $2,699.10
  • Concession card holders and Family Tax Benefit Part A families: $861.20

Families need to register with Medicare to combine their costs. Thresholds reset on 1 January. See Services Australia.
